Illustration Friday 'Old Fashioned'

Image
When I was a child I used to love trying on my grandmother's evening gloves. I wore back lace gloves of my own in the eighties as soon as I got the chance! They really add a touch of glamour don't they? Thankyou for your kind wishes of sleep for me yesterday, they worked! The funny thing is, I've noticed my drawings over the last day or so have birds and people with their eyes closed. (Hmmm...I think this says something!) I mentioned a give-away a few days ago and I haven't forgotten, I shall do the post very soon. :))

Sleepy

Image
I've not had much sleep lately, I hope this sketch casts a magic spell for me!

Monday Moon

Image
Hello on this monday morn! Here's a little sketch I did, very much influenced by that big fat plump moon we had recently! I'm thinking about having another give-away very soon, so watch this space. :o)

The Full Moon and Autumn Equinox

Image
What a day it is today. Not only the full moon but also the autumn equinox! To celebrate this special day I'm listing two watercolour paintings of mine for sale on Etsy. Both paintings measure 22 x 30cm (9 x 12 ins.) They are $40 each (that's approximately £25 in UK money.) They're listed in US dollars but the amount will be automatically converted to your own currency! Click HERE to see my shop :) The triple Goddess - worshipped by the Ancient Britons, is now in her aspect of the ageing Goddess and now passes from Mother to Crone, until she is reborn as a youthful virgin as the wheel of nature turns. At the Autumn equinox the goddess offers wisdom, healing and rest. I feel strangely drawn to this description! text taken from web-site http://www.new-age.co.uk/autumn-equinox.htm Exciting Update..... This painting has been included in an Etsy Treasury! :)))) CLICK HERE to see!

Illustration Friday 'Acrobat'

Image
This week's Illustration Friday word is 'acrobat' and I had a lot of fun drawing this! My life drawing group started back on friday and it was so lovely to be back and to see familiar faces from last term. We had a new model and it was her first time so for the first couple of drawings I had the chance to draw her robe... She very gradually had more confidence and revealed a bit more... and then it was business as usual! Mind you, I wouldn't pose clothed, let alone naked so I do admire life models and long may they continue! :)

Illustration Friday 'Proverb'

Image
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. I had so many ideas for this week's word but an excuse to draw three birds? Well I couldn't pass up on that could I? :o)

A Girl and an Orange Bird

Image
This is a new picture I did today that began as an idea for Illustration Friday but I wanted something else in the picture so I'm working a second one. I'll post it here as soon as it's done! Here's a journal page of doodles and a quote I came across this morning that made me want to write it down!

Pen and Ink Play

Image
As you probably already know, I LOVE colour but I'm having a lot of fun doing these too! :)

A Garden of Insects

Image
I was watching the TV this morning while eating my breakfast and sat there admiring the beautiful colour of Lady Gaga's dress. It was an unusual shade of pink and really suited her colouring. I though either her or her stylist must have a very good sense of colour. A few seconds I realised it was made out of MEAT! arrgghhhhh! The picture above bears no relation to what I've just told you, I just thought I'd share my page of pen and ink drawing I did yesterday while I was babysitting! It was fun, I think I'll do some more! :)

Illustration Friday 'Dessert'

Image
It just had to be a fairy cake that I drew didn't it?! Have you noticed how their name has changed to 'cupcake' over the past few years? Or am I just showing my age? ;o)

September

Image
There's no ignoring it, the season is beginning to change. I still have my little one home for another week before she goes back to school for the new term, so a chance to hit those shops to get last minute school things. One good thing (for me) about her school being later than the others, is that the mall will be less frantic and busy than it was last week! Right then, what's this week's Illustration Friday? Oh yes, ' Dessert' mmmmm...that'll make me think about naughty food today won't it?! ;o)

Patterns and Blobs

Image
That's better! (See previous post to see what I'm on about!) A great excuse to paint patterns, much more up my street don't you think? And here's one I did whilst waiting for the other one to dry. Completely unrelated, just for fun :)

Illustrating Bikers

Image
I'm currently working on an illustration for the magazine Britchopper . Drawing bikers is always a challenge for me but I have at least made a start with this sketch. It's not really working for me, so I'm redoing it and I'll post as soon as I've finished! Meanwhile, here's the one I did for the last issue. Bikers, traffic wardens, so many new subjects to learn!

Some Sketches and The Seaside

Image
Enjoying the last few days at the seaside. We've had some glorious weather recently! I've also been having fun in my sketchbook, playing with watercolour. The one below has a different sort of background. Shall I tell you what I did to create it? I made a sploshy wet wash of colour over the page, then laid down some scrunched up Clingfilm. Left it to dry and behold! The interesting texture appears! As for this background, you might be able to tell what else I've been doing! ;o)
