Illustration Friday 'Acrobat'

This week's Illustration Friday word is 'acrobat' and I had a lot of fun drawing this!
My life drawing group started back on friday and it was so lovely to be back and to see familiar faces from last term. We had a new model and it was her first time so for the first couple of drawings I had the chance to draw her robe...
She very gradually had more confidence and revealed a bit more...and then it was business as usual!
Mind you, I wouldn't pose clothed, let alone naked so I do admire life models and long may they continue! :)

Funnily enough I was watching a program about the nude in art just the other day and was thinking how brave someone would be to pose naked while someone paints or draws them. I certainly wouldn't have the courage. Great sketches.

i love this, your artwork always brings a smile to my face..so bright and cheerful:)and the not so wee bird looks rather pleased to be helping the wee lady to do her stuff :o)

great life drawing sketches too, i especially like the second one. i agree with you.. i could never get naked like this lol, but admire those that do.

I LOVE your acrobat and bird, everything about it - colour style - everything is fantastic! And your life drawings are so good; I wouldn't pose dressed or naked either but admire people who can.

Having done life drawing I too admire and am vry grateful for life models. Life drawing is very special and ..exhausting for me doing the drawing.

More Cottages During Lockdown and a Change in Medium.

I've been thinking about why I'm drawing cottages lately.  Maybe it's because there aren't many people around where we live and on our daily walks we rarely come across anyone else which I suppose is a good thing as we're still in Lockdown and have to practice Social Distancing which has now become a very well used phrase in our language! Maybe it's this lack of seeing people around that my mind is turning towards houses and flowers? The ones above are done in ink. I love the pearlescent inks, they're so beautiful when they catch the light. The paintings above and below are painted in acrylic. I've been obsessed with watercolour for a few weeks but I felt I'd like to get some acrylics out again. I've always been like this, going through phases of being obsessed with a particular medium thinking yes this is it! Dreamlike Painting

I like to make pictures that aren't a conventional landscape, so that the ground and the sky are interchangeable, dreamlike, floating. These paintings are done using my Tombow dual brush pens, the watercolour effect is made by adding water to the pen marks with an ordinary brush. This next one below is painted in watercolours and the black is done in waterproof drawing pens. Next is a picture made with my coloured pencils that I've had for ever. They might be ancient but they still do the job!  Oh. And my black pentel brush pen and a gold gel pen. I love a bit of gold. And finally here's a cute little cucumber that Middle Daughter grew in her garden. It looks like a lemon doesn't it? It's about the same size as a satsuma and I think they're called lemon cucumbers but let me assure you they taste like a very tasty cucumber. Have a great week!xx
