Inspiring Places

Image
These paintings were done in my sketchbook just before a very busy time began a couple of weeks ago. The top one is done in watercolour and a black pen and the second one in Tombow markers. I love how you can add water to them to make them flow like watercolours.   A funeral in Wales took us near a beautiful part of the country where we saw these creatures carved from tree trunks. We stopped here for a cup of tea before the long journey home. What a lovely view. This waterfall looks magical to me, straight out of a fairy tale! 🍃 🌿 🍃🌿 🍃🌿  My birthday was in December and my son and his partner bought me a ticket to Kew Gardens . We waited until June to go because when you're visiting a garden you want to be able walk around at ease looking at all the glorious colour don't you? Well as it turned out we happened to go on the wettest and most rainiest day of the year! But it turned out to be the best thing because there w...

A Trip to Hastings

Image
I've never been before but after seeing it on Youtube I was inspired to have a few days away in Hastings. We stayed in a beautiful airbnb flat with stunning views. Shall I show you inside the beautiful flat where we stayed? This felt like home from home to me, I love coloured glass and colourful paintings and victorian style fireplaces so I was absolutely in my element. I'm in love with this turquoise glass decanter that was in the bathroom! ♥ ♥ ♥    Oh that colour! Anyone who knows me and sees this would think this is my actual room because I have a sofa like that and several crocheted blankets very similar too. This corner became my nest each evening! I was very happy to discover that our flat was within a couple of minutes walk from the Old Town . We spent our days wandering around the old streets.   This house was shaped like a piece of cheese. It must be very small inside the house at the wedge end! ...

Watercolour Plant Ladies

I'm getting back into using my watercolours again. I love how they flow on the page leaving behind tide-marks. Some people call it 'cauliflowering' in the sense that it's unwanted. But me? I love it!  I don't live near any shops so a trip to the big city is far and few between. Exeter was looking lovely when we had a brief visit there last week to buy table lamps for the bedroom. At the weekend we went to Saltram House , it was cold but still nice to walk around the gardens. What a magical looking tree this is. 💚 Have a great week and I'll see you again soon. xx

Trerice and Watercolour Pages.

Image
It's the May Bank Holiday, time for a day out so on the way to visit our Middle Daughter we visited a National Trust house in Cornwall called Trerice . It was bright and sunny and the garden looked beautiful. The scent of lavenders filled the air and made me want to have even more at home in the garden than I have already. If I could take a picture of the aroma to show you here I would have. It did cross my mind! 😉   We had a quick look around the house, I loved the bathroom wallpaper! Isn't it lovely?!  I enjoyed the room with all the embroideries too. I liked the stitched pictures decorating a mirror frame, such a lovely idea. I'd like to think that I'll make something similar one day. Don't hold you breath on that one though! 😉 I would have taken a photo of the cream tea we had but it was a bit of a rush at the end because it was time to go and meet her from work. 💙 So here are my most recent sketchbook pages. I love using...
