What Makes a Home?

The Place I call Home, mixed media on canvas board 7 x 5"

I've lived in many places when I was younger but wherever I've lived and for however long, it's always been important to me to make it feel like home. To me, home is where I feel comfortable.
So what makes a home for me?

Come and have a peep around my home. :)

Being a visual person it's a place where I can look around and see things that I love to look at, a place that has beautiful colour all around.

My children's artwork

on brightly coloured walls,

 and in the kitchen.

Books,

cosy places to curl up and relax in.

What makes somewhere feel like home for you?

I've made the last in the series of my little mixed media paintings on canvas board. The latest one you see featured here is now available in my Etsy shop.
Do pop over and have a browse! xx

Thankyou for visiting! xx

Oh, how fun to see glimpse of your home, Jessie ! Your home is colorful and homey, just like your art. So cool. It made me think about my own home and how it reflects me. There are areas that do and then there are areas where compromise with my hubby's more masculine, less colorful side have been made. I have begun to spread out though... :)
Cheers, Colorful One !

Lovely posting Jessie. You are so right about your home being just that. I love how individual it is. Have to say an open fire, and a blanket with the kids cuddled up and the cat on a lap are what speak of home to me. Then looking up I can see shelves of books and the pictures on the wall.

Such a very beautiful home, it feels very welcoming, cosy and, well, homely. You have clearly put a lot of effort into making it such a lovely place to live, you should be very proud of the home you have created Jessie. I love the picture too. Hard to express, but it feels like I am looking at a picture of how I feel sometimes. Wonderful. I loved this post, thank you for sharing it.

Love the colorful mix in your home and - the bee kids paining is awesome! I must have colors and art around me too, although my walls are white. But it's all about the personal pieces - chairs, fabrics, paintings - that make a home for me! Have a lovely day!

Thank you for opening up your beautiful, colourful home to us, - like your art! I love the idea of framing some of my kids' artwork and making a display of it together. It seems so obvious, but why didn't I think of that before!?! Thank you! x
