Underneath I saw a Gentle Hand

Does this look familiar? 
This painting started life as my 'Scary Bird' painting I did for Illustration Friday. You might see little glimpses from the old painting underneath, the bird's feathers just behind her right shoulder and the leaves in the background.


Here's how my sketchbook looked before this morning's painting.

And below you can see the finished pages.
I've finished the painting on the other page too. I could almost see the girl emerging on her own so I didn't need to add very much.

Paintings with a past... actually the transition worked so well; just by looking at them you wouldn’t know they started as something completely different.

Maybe this is why there is a touch of magic to your work; the layered thought and the way each one grows off the paper. Each picture has a softness and I wonder how much of you goes into each one.

I really like the way you've incorporated a peep hole landscape into the body. (And I prefer the gentle colours of it but then you know we are at opposite poles when it comes to colour!)

I love this recycling, hiding - layering art, it creates wonderful pieces, filled with mystery and little whispers of messages and stories - I guess it's a lot like how we build our lives. Laying, adding to, covering up the bits we don't like and revealing what we do - learning and experimenting all the time.

The green woman I am loving! I like the tiny pink hand in the lower right and the tree like shapes with the leaves and the snake shape. So interesting.

I've been thinking about why I'm drawing cottages lately.  Maybe it's because there aren't many people around where we live and on our daily walks we rarely come across anyone else which I suppose is a good thing as we're still in Lockdown and have to practice Social Distancing which has now become a very well used phrase in our language! Maybe it's this lack of seeing people around that my mind is turning towards houses and flowers? The ones above are done in ink. I love the pearlescent inks, they're so beautiful when they catch the light. The paintings above and below are painted in acrylic.
