A Glittery Mermaid

At last I've finished the mermaid painting !

We took the hardboard side panel off of the bath so that I could paint her on there. It was an odd size to paint on and would hardly fit on my easel. I did some of the painting with it across a table because the hardboard was quite thin and bendy and some of the smaller details were impossible to do with it bending to and fro!

I sprinkled some very fine glitter on the scaly parts, like the mermaid's tail and the fish and finished off with several coats of matte varnish over the whole thing.

She's not fixed back on the bath just yet, but you can get an idea of how it'll look if I turn this photo around this way up.

Thankyou to Violette for the inspiration of using glitter in the bathroom!

...and she is gorgeous, Jessie! The colors are so YOU! Hmm, if I had a painting like that in my bathroom, I'd probably spend forever in it and the others would end up banging on the door telling me to get out quick!! :D

Thanks Julie and Amalia, I've been eyeing up the grotty blank bath panel for years and sort of imagined in my head what I'd paint on there one day. I've actually got round to doing it so I'm very pleased! :o)

I love your mermaid painting. Being a country dweller, I prefer Undines myself (freshwater sprites), but their mermaid relatives are just as lovely.

This mermaid I enjoy very much. Aside from the pretty girl-fish, I love the little bitty fishes, differently colored and sparkled.

I believe my first visit here.

Thankyou for your comments, I've got lots of catching up to do and will come out to visit you soon! Sorry about the confusion with the comments not appearing, I didn't have access to a computer while was away as there were queues everywhere with people needing the internet to try to book transport home. I'll catch up as soon as I can!xx
