Pencils and Snow

I think this one speaks for itself! I still don't having a working scanner so I'm having to photograph my pictures at the moment. I'm still playing in sketchbooks and not making finished pieces so there's no panic just yet!
Look at my delicious box of Inktense pencils I had for christmas! I love the strong colours but the colours on the ends of the pencils don't correspond to the colour they produce on the paper so there was only one thing to do! This was fun, needed no brain (mine seems to be on pause at the moment) and I now have a useful chart that I can refer to for ever, or until it falls apart or gets tea stains all over it.
Right then, what colours shall I choose for my next picture? Hmmmmmm.

Love your pencils Jessie, I have a small box and I know what you mean about the colours on the pencils looking different to what they are in real life, great idea to make a chart!! Cute picture too!! Looks like you are getting sick of the snow. We've been stuck in doors for the last week due to the extreme heat it's crazy. We've had almost 40c some days and you just can't go outside in it. Hard to believe when you are so cold over there!

Oh my goodness, how organised of you! I'd probably START something like that, get distracted by something else, put it somewhere 'safe', forget where I put it, then forget I ever did it...then find it 10 years later, still unfinished!

I've been thinking about why I'm drawing cottages lately.  Maybe it's because there aren't many people around where we live and on our daily walks we rarely come across anyone else which I suppose is a good thing as we're still in Lockdown and have to practice Social Distancing which has now become a very well used phrase in our language! Maybe it's this lack of seeing people around that my mind is turning towards houses and flowers? The ones above are done in ink. I love the pearlescent inks, they're so beautiful when they catch the light. The paintings above and below are painted in acrylic. I've been obsessed with watercolour for a few weeks but I felt I'd like to get some acrylics out again. I thought this was quite an appropriate word for some of us this week with all this snow! It was very exciting at first to have everyone home on a school day but today they're back and I must say it's nice to have the space again to get on with my own things! I've given my Etsy shop a new lease of life and will be adding these 2 ACEO's later on this morning. I do like drawing birds!

A Day Out

Brixham Harbour It's been a while since my last post hasn't it? It's been a very busy Easter holiday for me, lots of things to sort out and jobs to do. Today's my first day at home but there's so much catching up to do after being away I don't know where to start! So I decided to start right here and to make this blogpost :) I did manage to have some relaxing time too and one of the places we went to was  Avebury Manor.  I've been to Avebury stone circles more times than I can count but have never visited the 500 year old Manor House. Each room has been restored to a different time period to represent the different generations of people who lived there over the years. I love the handpainted wallpaper in one of the rooms, so detailed.
