Christmas Paintings

I've been designing some new christmas cards for this year. I started them a few weeks ago so you'd have thought by now I'd have the cards in the shop? Well I would have done but my printer is on the blink. Doh!

This one's a little familiar don't you think? ;)

While I'm here, let me show you the paintings as they progressed.

Here's the snowglobe one that you might recognise from my new blog header? It starts as a pencil drawing.

I tend to use very heavy watercolour paper 300gsm so I don't need to stretch it or to hold it down too much with tape.
Then comes the painting stage which involves the fun part, choosing the colour scheme, (my favourite part!)

and here we have it.

The snowglobe painting is finished. :)

The reindeer painting was made in the same way, I didn't need to tape this one down at all. (Doesn't that water in the cup look dirty?!) I get so involved in the painting I don't like to leave the table to change it. :)

So here we have the 2 finished christmas paintings!

I don't yet know whether I'm going to be able to make christmas cards with them in time but the originals are now available to buy in my Etsy shop. Each measures 10 x 7ins (approx. 25 x 18cm) and costs $40.
Please come and have a look!:)

Thankyou for visiting! xx

I Have been admiring your snow globe header for a while now and am delighted to now see the whole beautiful painting! You paint in watercolour so well. Your colours are jewel like. Both designs make fabulous and magical christmas card designs and if I hadn't just printed a load of my own would be over to Etsy to buy some!! I am sure they will sell really well.
