A Day in Oxford
I've always like visiting Oxford. So many inspiring sights to see!
Come along with me as I show you what caught my eye. :)
I do like a nice doorway and this one has exceptional decoration don't you think?
Such beautifully kept gardens in the colleges. I like that lamp!
Now step inside the Ashmoleon with me as I show you some treats...
This is a close-up of the right hand side of the painting, 'The Triumph of Chastity'. If you like, you can see the whole painting here
I do like the shape of this ship! Below are the details of this painting.
This one is St Michael Subduing Satan and Weighing the Souls of the Dead and is attributed to the artist Lelio Orsi 1508/11 - 1587. Bit of a gruesome image but fascinating detail. Lovely frame too!
I love the unusual frame of this one and her very expressive hands. Below you can read the details about the image.
So now on to the Preraphaelite gallery!...
The clarity of this one is stunning. The photo doesn't do it justice so you'll have to take my word for it!
I'm afraid I had 'museum feet' and had to leave wanting to see more but that's a good thing isn't it? More to look forward to again one day! :)
Before I go, let me show you the Smurf hats I'm making...
Ok, they're not Smurf hats. Your guesses as to what they might be would be fun! ;)

What about the Oxford tour - thank you for showing us the imposant buildings and these extraordinary paintings! Life is so short to see most of the things we would like to(incl.countries, towns, museums...), so posts like this one bring us joy and enrich us!xx
I was a chaperone for my son's soccer team many years ago. We saw all of Europe in ten days. (Need I say more)
We spent a very short amount of time in Oxford and I remember it so well. Not only did I enjoy your pictures but you brought back some wonderful memories. We still laugh about that trip and all of the adventures we had.
It looks like you had a great time.
