Sunny Monday Morning!

It's a warm and sunny morning today!

People say it's us British that obsess about the weather but I've noticed a lot of others from around the world  on their blogs wishing for Spring to start and to get some long awaited sunshine. ;)
Look we have proper shadows!

The view of the sky from outside my back door - deep blue!

I hope it stays this time, don't you?

Now the sun's out I have projects afoot that I'd like to start, like this old food store that's been lurking at the back of the garage for many many years. I don't know who it belonged to or when it was last used but it looks in need of rescuing at last before the wood beetles make it into a nice meal. Not sure what to do with it but a good clean is the first thing.

The painting I'm working on is coming along, I'm deciding on doing more to the background. (Here's a snippet above.)
I'm going to use masking fluid for the first time on canvas. I've used it before on paper so I hope it comes away afterwards and doesn't want to remain as part of the painting. Any tips from people that have done this before would be very welcome!

It is snowing here this morning and it looks like rain coming soon so it is a pleasure looking back at the sun shine from yesterday in your photos. I hope you keep us updated with the cupboard it would look lovely in my house ;)

So glad you are enjoying some real spring sunshine. We have some sun here in New England this morning too, but it is very cold and they are announcing another dump of snow tonight and all day tomorrow. I, and most people I know around here, am very winter weary. But the longer days and light is helping...
That store looks like it could be fun storage if it was Jess-i-fied !
I hope this Spring week brings you lots of creative juices !

As I write, the sun is behind a cloud, I might have guessed it wouldn't last! I think it might rain soon.:)

It seems that it's not just the UK that has changeable weather! Thanks Kim. :)

Oh Jess you must have stolen the sunshine that was meant for me lol, we had a horrid misty grey morning today and it doesn't look much better now!!

I can't wait to see what you do with that little cabinet, it's so sweet!!
Jess said…
Sorry to hog all the sunshine! ;) Thanks Micki.x

That cabinet is so full of potential! I bet you'll work some Jess Magic on it!

We have a gray morning here in So. California....and you know, I'm loving it! It's just been too hot for Spring around here! Wish I could send some your way :)

I've never tried masking fluid on canvas....but even if it stays, it makes a cool relief pattern!

I think you must have sent some 'up North', Jess, because it has been beautiful here too today. Not often we can say that in Manchester!! Even got some gardening done yehhhh! Good luck with beautifying your food store and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your new painting xx

Jess your blog is a bright spot in my day today! We still have mounds of snow here, don't think we will see spring for several weeks. Thanks for sharing your "sun" with us!

Although Winter doesn't want to leave, she must admit that it's Spring whose turn is to reign! It's nice to see you have sunny moments, full of mood and beauty! It's the same here - still a little bit chilly, but the flowers and buddies are brave enough to grow and the world around is quickly becoming green!
Hmmm, refreshed and maybe coloured this food store may contain so many things! It will "tell" you what to do...
Have a lovely, sunny week, Jessie!:)

I've not heard that anyone obsesses about the weather more than others, that's a new one on me! How'd the masking go?
Jess said…
Thanks Cameron, it is isn't it although I might decide to keep it white.
We had a lovely day of sun Monday but the clouds have taken over now.:)

Good to hear it reached Manchester! Even the radio station I was listening to that was broadcast from London was complaining about the grey day so we were pretty lucky weren't we?
Thanks Deborah!
Jess said…
Aww thanks!x
Jess said…
Yes you're right it will tell me and I will listen!
Thanks Rossichka, you too. :)

That's interesting, it's said over again and again here in the media that we as a nation complain about the weather more than any other country but maybe every country thinks the same about their own? Hmmmmm....
The masking? It was brilliantly! I remembered how you said you loved the moment when you could peel it off and all I could think of was how it would take me hours and would probably ruin the surface of the canvas but it didn't! It came off so easily, more easily than paper so I sahll definitely be using it again!x

Flowers are blooming all over here in Canterbury! Even though there is still rain and cold...they are heart lifting to see! And the birds.......singing away! Oh, I LOVE your new heading! So lovely!

You are so right about the weatherxx
But the sun does give us all such a high, I love the light, I also love your cupboard, isn't it wonderful to have a project just waiting to be started and something new to put in the house for Spring.
Your work is so pretty, wonderful colours.
Hugs Lynn xx

Well, from the pictures it looks as if Spring is finally coming! That cupboard looks nice. Perfect thing to tackle when the weather gets better. I've no experience with masking fluid, but I've seen it demonstrated on canvas before, so there shouldn't be any problem.

Thanks Sandra :)

Yes we haven't been hit by the snow yet luckily! Thanks so much for saying that my blog makes you happy, you're so kind. It makes me happy to hear that!:)

It's amazing when the sun comes out the garden looks like Spring is already here, lighting up the flowers but on a day like today (Friday) the sky is overcast and it feels like winter!
The masking fluid was a success and I shall be using it a lot from now on!
