Live Each Day

Since I first heard the John Lennon song many years ago that has the line: 'Life is what happens to you when you're busy making other plans'  those words have stayed with me. It's good to plan but so important to remember that we're alive NOW!
I got up this morning to a lovely sunny day, with thoughts about how it's important to live each day as it comes and to enjoy being alive. Some people say 'live each day as though it was your last'. That doesn't work for me, I'd end up obese and alcoholic within a month of living like that! ;)
I then turned on the radio and the song by Junior 'Mama Used To Say' was playing, singing lyrics that seemed to repeat the thoughts in my head. For those of you who aren't familiar with it, the chorus goes:

And mama used to say
Take your time young man
And mama used to say
Don't you rush to get old
And mama used to say
Take it in your stride
And mama used to say
Live your life

I then open up Google on the computer and my horoscope says:
"Normally, you're a champ at long-term planning, but now your focus shifts to what's happening day to day."

Is the universe trying to tell me something?!

Ahh, important words which often render me pensive. Live each day as if it is your last does not work for me either. It's too intense for me. A famous economist (don't ask me which one!) once said that analytical thinking is a waste of time because the list of things you have taken into consideration will be rendered useless due to the one element you did not know about. I think these words tie in with John Lennon's lyrics, don't you?

Beautiful painting as ever :-)

Enjoy your hour, day, and week!

Lovely post! (and painting) We must take the time to enjoy each day, and sometimes in our youth we rush headlong and forget this wisdom. And then when we are older we leave behind the wonder with which we once viewed things. This time of year is full of promise and it reminds us to appreciate life. Minerva ~

Maybe there is a message in there somewhere? (I know what you mean about getting fat living every day as if it were your last) :)

Time is indeed fleeting, but in my opinion it is possible to over-analyse. Sometimes it is best to sit back and enjoy the ride, bumps and all.

It is so easy spending time thinking about Spring, when the beauty of today, this very winter's day is calling us to notice. I fully embrace your thoughts today.

I don't know if the universe is trying to say something...but I do know that this is a lovely girly piece of art!

I am with you on the living in the NOW!
Dear Jess, I get this topic nearly every day now from different directions, it´s awesome and unbelievable to me, must be somehow in the air, yes????
Focus in the now moment, relaxe, do what commes first ease your mind... so slowly I think, I get it ;-))) So the point is for me to practice that often, many times a day , must say it feels very good to me, gets easier...

Have a lot of great NOW moments!
