Flowers by the River

At last the painting is finished. It's quite a big one, bigger than I've done for quite a while! It's 70 x 64cm (25 x 27 ins) You can get an idea of the scale of it from the vase of flowers.

I had fun making up the flowers and leaves. The colours are a little brighter than this in real life - yes really!

All I need to do now is to paint the sides white. I like to do that because I don't frame my canvas paintings and it gives it a nice finish ready for hanging.

It's been quite a journey to get to this stage but I feel ready to start a new one now. What are you up to?
:)

It rather makes me long for Polruan, a hot summers day and pint on the quayside with friends.
It is very beautiful.

Thanks Nadia! It was easier to paint it yesterday in the sunshine, today is quite dull here weatherwise so I hope it cheers people up! :)

It's just lovely! I like how the flowers balnce out the houses...and all the lovely color!

Perhaps paint the sides a blue or green? I find white "stops" the eye a bit when admiring it from all angles....plus, always reminds me of gesso...
Please know this is merely a friendly suggestion.
Please do what makes your heart happy :)

It is so very, very pretty!

Cameron

This looks like a magical place that I would love to visit. I love it when a painting makes me want to either visit or write something about what is happening. This painting makes me want to do both. It is such an inspiring happy piece of art.
