Different Mediums for Different Moods

Image
Sometimes I like to spray my pages with water and add some gorgeous coloured ink. Then I add some collage and some paint and coloured pencils. I add some more characters and layers of collage and paint, until it feels like the time to stop. I'm enjoying making these mixed media paintings, quite different to my watercolours, more messy, more textural. I go from one way of working to the other depending on how I feel. This one below is purely done with watercolour and a black pen... Stephanie has kindly featured this art print of mine ' Shawl of Leaves ' on her beautiful blog, Millefeuilles . If you haven't visited her blog yet, you're in for a treat! Click to see her lovely creations. I promise you won't be disappointed. :) A mixed media painting with a mixed meaning. :)  These paintings evolve on their own and quite often it'll be some time before I know what they're about myself!  Any ideas?

Being Natural

Image
Have you read a book where the words touched the very core of who you are? That speaks to your heart so strongly, you wake up knowing the universe has a unique plan for you and you need to trust the natural rhythms of life?   That's what this painting's about, although I didn't realise it at the time. :) I love to see flowers being allowed to grow where they like, where feels natural to them. They flourish and look more beautiful to   me. I'm really enjoying the wild flowers that are springing up everywhere at the moment. I don't see them as weeds, they're more beautiful to me than the cultivated ones. Trust in Nature. xx

Button Love

Image
I have a large collection of buttons,  most of them have had a couple of incarnations already. A lot of them are many years older than me! I was looking for some buttons for the jacket I'm making. It's almost done, like my painting, it's been on hold for a while because I've been away from home over the school holidays and haven't been able to sit and do anything that involves concentrating. I woke this morning wondering how I'm going to get back into painting again after such a long break and what do you think arrived first thing? Ta daaaa! My long awaited book written and illustrated by  Suzi Blu . What a lovely treat to start the day! :) Happy weekend everyone! xx

Gaëlle Boissonnard Joy and my Giveaway Winner.

Image
When I was in Paris last week I passed a card shop and my eye was drawn to the lovely work of a French artist called  Gaëlle Boissonnard . Aren't they lovely? Of course I had to Google her as soon as I got back and I found even more treasures! Yes I think I'd like a wall covered in these please. Her work table.  I love looking at other artists's workspaces don't you? I haven't done much painting myself recently as we've been away quite a bit over the Easter holidays. It's nice to have a break but I'm looking forward to getting back to it. And now for the announcement of my  giveaway winner...... Thankyou so much  for taking the time to enter, I wish I could sent you all prizes but I only have the one set of charcoals and just the one watercolour painting that I pictured! Well done to...... Rossichka  ! They will be on their way to you as soon as I have your address. :) Bye for now. xx

Happy Easter

Image
Happy Easter! Guess where I've just been? Paris! :)  Paris in the springtime, a beautiful flower stall, eye-catching shop window displays, astonishing buskers at the steps of  Sacré-Coeur, wonderful places to eat the most delicious breakfasts you've ever tasted, and the biggest graveyard in Paris,  Père Lachaise . Oscar Wilde lies here behind the loving graffiti! Jim Morrison is surrounded with gum fashioned into hearts and sweet messages. The lampost too! And a visit to the Château de Versailles  which I can sum up in one word  and that word is...  BIG I also came across an artist's work that's new to me but is now my new current favourite.♥ I won't reveal who she is just yet, I think I'll leave that until my next post if you don't mind. :) I want to do my giveaway draw soon too, so I'll say bye for now and I'll be back again in a few days to anno...
