Illustration Friday and Journal Pages

This is my picture for Illustration Friday 'Round'
(click on the picture to see more detail)

I've been painting pages of my art journal. Some are too personal to post here, thoughts and images that should stay inside my head really in case they are seen by someone who doesn't understand their real meaning.
I can safely show this one below because it does what it says on the tin.

As they say.

Your "round" submission has a melancholic, contemplative feel to it. Her face looks scarred on the left, but then it's patterned with flowers. Overall it is evocative and interesting to look at. I wonder what the words say.

I'm also intrigued by your sketch journal. I like how you incorporated things from your day. I'd like to try this myself.

both paintings are intriguing and beautiful.
the lady in the top picture has such soulful eyes.

Both beautiful, so much to study, I'd love to know what the eyes in the "round" are seeing both internally and externally. She changes your breathing as you look at her.

I love your doodlings, Jessie...Thank you for sharing your pages with us. Many pages in my journal are kind of personal too but I do love sharing my process.
Happy December !

Really lovely, both of them, though I like the top one the best. It fills me with a kind of longing (for what I don't know). The purple color is so melancholy, but then there are the flowers dancing around her. So she's a woman with both joy and sorrow in her life. Lovely!

Oh, these are very dreamlike paintings, especially the first one. I love the watery colours. Spiritual purple.
It looks to me that you have really deep emotions, Jess!

You are disciplined to keep an art journal/diary. I wish I could do that!

Thanks Sarah, the words might be clearer if you click on the image to make it bigger to read :o) Instead of throwing them away, I've started keeping old tickets and receipts to use for backgrounds. This one is too clear, Ithink I'd like to obsure them with paint next time.

Thankyou Sumea. :)

Wow Carol that's quite a thing! Thankyou!

Thanks Barbara, it's just an ordinary receipt but maybe I found a value in the thing itself too that I hadn't thought about consciously.

Thanks Kim, I love you sharing your journal pages too!

Thankyou Coreopsis, it's interesting what emerges from my soul when I work intuitively. :)

Thanks Jo, I do have deep emotions, too deep at times! I don't feel it's a discipline to do these pages, I feel it's necessary to get things out of me to hope to make sense of them. I never plan what I'm going to do. :)

Thanks Ana!

Thankyou Renilde, I like to do this layering technique and the purple with the brown turned out rather pleasing, I might use that combo again!
