The Winds of Change

Just when I thought I had some time to get on with some painting, not decorating painting but real painting ;) the carpet was delivered for the bedroom.
So I've been heaving and hoeing furniture from one room to the next, it's going to be lovely when it's all finished but I'm too impatient to wait until then to show you,
so here's a little peep of it so far...
Like her older sister she asked for black walls. I do encourage self expression but I draw the line at black walls I'm afraid. (No, her sister didn't get black walls either!) I am nudged once again by the distant memory of having to paint over a dark colour. Not to be repeated!

In between my bouts of furniture removal, I've been sploshing and stamping and doing all kinds of things with paint in my sketchbook...
Yes I've been using my acrylics again. I'm hoping to do some more once things have settled down here. The house feels so different with just the three of us. I've had a houseful of people for many years so it feels strange and is going to take some getting used to. It does have its advantages though, less washing, less washing up, less cleaning to do, fewer to cook for. In theory I should have more time on my hands shouldn't I?
I'm just off to finish hanging the curtains then....

Thanks for stopping by my blog and your lovely comments :) now I get to follow your sweet blog. Decorating does seem a pain but like you say it is definitely worth it! white paint does make everything cleaner and fresher and then colour can be added elsewhere. I'll be following closely to see what else you do with decorating to pick up some tips ;)

Have a delicious day!

PS have you entered my giveaway?

Thanks Rachel, I shall keep you posted!
Thanks for visiting Bee, I agree about the white brightening everything up. That's very kind of you to tell me about your giveaway thankyou.
Thanks Heather, it's a bright cherry red colour. I was a bit dubious when she chose it but it looks lovely!
Thanks Micki, that's a great tip. Trouble is, anything I suggest she's not going to like! ;)
Oh Ren I have the very thing! I am Grand Central Granny-Square Station here! I'm not sure if she'd appreciate sharing her room though. :)

so good to see an artist's sketchbook adventures! isn't it amazing how things always seem to come up last minute right when we think we finally have time to paint?

Love the heart!!
I can imagine the look your daughter wanted to achieve, red carpet, black walls, white furniture, very stylish but than i can understand your argument, painting over a dark colour is no fun and it seems the room is going to look great anyway.

i hope you find some time to paint and surprise us again, xx

Thanks Michelle, you're so right about things needing my attention!

Thanks Renilde, I hope I do too. It's been ages. :)

Love your drawing!! (My colours!)
Wel with this colour carpet, you don't need to paint the walls: they turn pink just for free (to be honest: slightly too red for me)
Do I sence a tiny bit of empty nest syndrome peeping around the corner ??? Despite all the "less" things? Take care, hope you will be painting again soon!

wow, red carpet, that is gorgeous and i am not a red gal. when i was a child, my mother painted one of the walls in each of our rooms - black! We got to use it as a chalk board. I was just thinking, perhaps someone could paint a large (old funky) painting or piece of wood or something black and frame it and hang it on the wall - i know different from black walls. Fun to see what you have been doing art wise too.
