Illustration Friday 'Dessert'
It just had to be a fairy cake that I drew didn't it?! Have you noticed how their name has changed to 'cupcake' over the past few years? Or am I just showing my age? ;o)
More Cottages During Lockdown and a Change in Medium.
I've been thinking about why I'm drawing cottages lately. Maybe it's because there aren't many people around where we live and on our daily walks we rarely come across anyone else which I suppose is a good thing as we're still in Lockdown and have to practice Social Distancing which has now become a very well used phrase in our language! Maybe it's this lack of seeing people around that my mind is turning towards houses and flowers? The ones above are done in ink. I love the pearlescent inks, they're so beautiful when they catch the light. The paintings above and below are painted in acrylic. I've been obsessed with watercolour for a few weeks but I felt I'd like to get some acrylics out again. I've always been like this, going through phases of being obsessed with a particular medium thinking yes this is it! I have been on a spiritual mission I think. It mainlt started over my re-incarnation questioning about the painting in the London art galley by Antonello da messina. Has a Christian re-incarnation is not something spoken about and couldn't look into christianity for the answers and there I went off on a youtube adventure which led to many books. I have read more these last few months than in my entire life. Wow, what a journey.
I am so loving it.
Will be back to my art soon after the bathroom's finished. I feel all we do good and bad is eventually good experience as we learn so much from it and not to beat our selfs up about it anymore. Freedom is such a wonderful feeling. Yeah Go Jessie, free and wonderful lady! Yeah go Julie, too!

I always think of fairy cakes as being small and light and decidedly British whereas cupcakes are big and bold and very American.
