Endings Mean New Beginnings

I've just come to the end of my sketchbook, the picture above is the last page. The pretty lights in Paignton at the end of the day yesterday. She's not playing a sad song on her violin, endings always mean new beginnings don't they? I love to choose new sketchbooks and this time I've gone for a square format with a nice hard cover and lots of pages.
I have my usual problem of being too scared to start it! I used to be like this in school when I was given a new exercise book in a lesson. The first page would have perfect writing in it because it semed so precious and new and I didn't want to spoil it. Same now, every sketch every drawing that comes into my head doesn't seem good enough.

How very silly.

Don't worry, I'm sure I'll be attacking it very soon!

Meanwhile, here are a few pages from my life drawing sketchbook I did this morning....

And talking of endings, don't forget to check out my new listings of my paintings for sale HERE.

Have a great weekend!

your last sketch is wonderful. perhaps it simply takes the right inspiration to begin a new journal, a new journey, with your new friend-a square empty space to step into. Lovely post. May I ask what kind of pencils you share here with us? I am just beginning to work with colored pencils. And perhaps why you like these?

Thanks Tammy, the pencils are a mixture of different ones. My current favourites are from a shop called WHSmith. I'm not sure if they have a branch in the USA. I like these because they're quite soft and so blend really well. :o)

Wow, Jess, what a wonderful painting for your sketchbook finale! You know, I do exactly the same thing? Somehow it feels necessary to begin with something good and end it with something even better! Have a fine day... :) oxx

Hi Jessie, LOVE your life drawing sketches they are beautiful!!!! You should frame these!! I know what you mean about starting a new sketch book heheheh I'm the same. I'm going to be in the UK in a month, can't wait, so I might have a look at WH Smith for some new art supplies to bring back with me. Oh and in answer to your question, yes the text in my illustration was typed up on the comuter can't remember the name of the font, I just really liked the look of it. :0)

Thanks Amalia, that's a lovely thing to say and it's reassuring to know you do the same!

Thankyou Victoria :o)

Oh Nicola you're too kind! The WHSmith pencils were surprisingly good, I say surprising because they weren't very expensive, do have try of them if you get the chance. :)
How exciting! A new beginning! Enjoy. Have a beautiful day dear one!

Great to see your studies of life drawing. They are getting more confident. You always make beautiful art and a blank book is nothing without you!

Hi Jessie,

Your last page is so pretty; it reminds me of Marc Chagall (whom I like very very much indeed!). I love having a new sketchbook, too. Have fun!

Those life drawings are amazing...

Thanks so much Lisa!

Hi Julia, I really love choosing new ones, I send far too long in the shop feeling each one several times over and usually get the shop keeper agitated with the amount of time I spend!

Hi Jessie, wonderful live drawnings! And I like the girl who knits wholes in her knitwork:) New sketchbooks:I remember that I wrote in a very nice and orderly handwriting on the first and second page, but that didn't last:) The rest was the usual doodling around the notes:)
Thanks so much for your comment on Miss Doodle's Day;
have a great weekend
greetings from Paris
Andrea
