There was a time when I thought it wrong to draw a picture of a house on a hill, let alone one quite as unrealistic as this. Maybe years of art college taught me it would be too simple, too childlike?
Sometimes I think learning to UNlearn and draw like a child again would be the best thing I could do for my art...the way my kids draw amazes me all the time!
Oh I'm still struggling to learn Christina! I wouldn't want you to unlearn, your art is beautiful.
Thankyou Evangelina :)
Thanks Owen, I love that you called it the Bluebird of Happiness! I did enjoy painting those eyes I must admit. I have brown eyes myself, so it was nice to create these so very blue!
As always, your work is lovely. I do believe that the shift from realism to imaginative comes with experience and exploration. Continue to explore your art :)
Thanks Rebekah, I do realy feel drawn towards blues at the moment!
You're right Janet, even though I've been exploring it a long time I still feel I've a way to go until I feel I've reached my destination, or IS there a destination? Hmmm...
Thanks so much Vanessa :)

Hi Jessie, The gunny thing is, I thought realistic art was the only way for a long time. Wasn't until I went to college that I realized the artist are more important. It is the artist who creates out of their imagination and life. You do what you want to create. Art is you! Stuff some stuffy idea's of some pompous people. Argh, they are just stick in the mud's!
Thank you Jessie for your caring message about Renee and my dolls.
Thanks Julie, your college was obviously more forward thinking than mine! I'm having to unlearn the rubbish they spouted there. I did however learn very valuable things from a couple of lovely tutors on my foundation, so it wasn't all bad. Thankyou for your inspiring words :)
Lovely subtle illustrations. It took me years and years to forget everything learned at art collage. I'm glad I learned techniques there but thats all!
I've been thinking about why I'm drawing cottages lately. Maybe it's because there aren't many people around where we live and on our daily walks we rarely come across anyone else which I suppose is a good thing as we're still in Lockdown and have to practice Social Distancing which has now become a very well used phrase in our language! Maybe it's this lack of seeing people around that my mind is turning towards houses and flowers? The ones above are done in ink. I love the pearlescent inks, they're so beautiful when they catch the light. The paintings above and below are painted in acrylic. I've been obsessed with watercolour for a few weeks but I felt I'd like to get some acrylics out again. I've always been like this, going through phases of being obsessed with a particular medium thinking yes this is it! This is my final medium and then finding myself being drawn to changing once again to a different way of wor...
