Food For The Soul

Delphiniums do it for me. It's that beautiful vivid blue that makes my heart skip a beat. Yesterday I felt in need of peace, so we went to visit Laycock. It wasn't as empty as I'd hoped, lots of other people appeared to have had the same idea as me!
The abbey looked stunning in the sunshine.
The vaulted ceiling contained magical carvings.
This one's my favourite - a mermaid!

The garden had trees so tall I felt dizzy looking up at them! (I felt like this in America looking at sky scrapers!) I still think of them and can't believe how tall they were. We don't really see may tall things in this country so when I see a tree like this it's a bit disorientating for me!
Geraniums are a favourite too. It's got to be the colour! What do you think? :o)

Oh Jessie, you do like purply blue, don't you! And it is one of my least favourite colours...I'm more of a blood-red, burnt orange person. But - I love the mermaid!

Wow Jessie - what a great post! You have hit the nail right on the head there, when you said how the flowers can 'make your heart skip a beat'....that is just so inspired, it's exactly how I feel about bits and pieces in my humble little garden, although I could never put it words, but you just have! It kind of makes you feel very humble, doesn't it? And lucky to be able to appreciate such beauty.

Hi Jessie, what a beautiful place!!! You're so lucky having all that green over there, it's just so brown where I live in Australia. I do miss the lush grass coming from Wales and those flowers are gorgeous! In answer to your question on my blog. No I didn't use photo shop for those two cards I just made. We have just bought a brilliant new printer/scanner etc and so I basically printed off the pictures that I wanted to work with and made a collage, painting the flowers and words around them. The one with the disco diva's is a print off onto photographic paper. It's such a great printer I'm very lucky! My lovely hubby decided we needed a good one so i could print off my work. I would like to use photo shop though but I need to learn how........

Where in Wales are you from? That's not too far from here! I'm surprised it's not Photoshop, it's done so well. I'd love a good printer but hey, I got Photoshop for next to nothing so I shan't complain!

I've been thinking about why I'm drawing cottages lately.  Maybe it's because there aren't many people around where we live and on our daily walks we rarely come across anyone else which I suppose is a good thing as we're still in Lockdown and have to practice Social Distancing which has now become a very well used phrase in our language! Maybe it's this lack of seeing people around that my mind is turning towards houses and flowers? The ones above are done in ink. I love the pearlescent inks, they're so beautiful when they catch the light. The paintings above and below are painted in acrylic.
