Illustration Friday: 'Intricate'

I've had a break from watercolour and had some fun with pen and ink. There's something very satisfying in using a dip pen. The yellow background is ink too but put on with a brush, same with the rosy cheeks and petals.

Hey, Jessie, you know that is just a lovely illustration! So bright and light! I am looking out of my window to grey rain and drizzle (I guess the same for you?) and seeing your picture in the thumbnail immediately made me feel better! You are always inspiring us by using other media too! I haven't used a dippy pen for ages! There are some somewhere here...I love how you're not afraid to use other media, even stuff you're not so sure of. I tend to be 'safe' all the time - I am learning alot from you Jessie, also thanks for your comments and advise, always helpful! x

Oh thankyou both for your lovely comments! When I feel stuck I use a different medium, sometimes get angry with it then something else happens quite unexpectedly! This morning I cut up an ink drawing I've just made and it's taking me down yet another road today...

I've been thinking about why I'm drawing cottages lately.  Maybe it's because there aren't many people around where we live and on our daily walks we rarely come across anyone else which I suppose is a good thing as we're still in Lockdown and have to practice Social Distancing which has now become a very well used phrase in our language! Maybe it's this lack of seeing people around that my mind is turning towards houses and flowers? The ones above are done in ink. I love the pearlescent inks, they're so beautiful when they catch the light. The paintings above and below are painted in acrylic. I've been obsessed with watercolour for a few weeks but I felt I'd like to get some acrylics out again.
