Illustration Friday: 'Flawed'

I'm knitting myself a cardigan at the moment, maybe that's why I had knitting on my mind when I did this week's Illustration Friday topic 'Flawed'. I drop more stitches than ever before recently as these new energy saving lightbulbs are so dim and I only ever do my knitting in the evenings. My holes don't get as big as this though, and anyway, she seems quite oblivious to them!

This is the original quick sketch but I thought she looked so miserable, I ended up changing the expression to one of contentment.

...except now, I think she looks evil! (see top picture)

I like how she looks oblivious to the holes in her knitting..."so what", she says! "It is the process!"

tee hee, these are too funny. yes i love the colours too and yes, the new lighting is sooooo dim, but i don't have to look at my knitting when i knit (boast boast), so that's okay, but can't do any embroidery anymore!

The embroidery on the fire screen was done by my mother-in-law many years ago.

Great picture! Not Evil. Perhaps just thinking of something evil like holes in an old boyfriend or the plumber that ripped her off last year. Yeah, that's it.

Very funny. Except when I knit it never ends up looking that square. ha ha. One side is always stretched out and uneven.

Gorgeous painting! I love her contented, if not oblivious expression, hee hee! I've received a few scarves and slippers from friends and family over the years and find it endearing when there is are imperfections, in fact I cherish the item all the more. However, I am not that kind to myself. I always expect perfection from myself... not that I ever get it, hee hee!!

I've been thinking about why I'm drawing cottages lately.  Maybe it's because there aren't many people around where we live and on our daily walks we rarely come across anyone else which I suppose is a good thing as we're still in Lockdown and have to practice Social Distancing which has now become a very well used phrase in our language! Maybe it's this lack of seeing people around that my mind is turning towards houses and flowers? The ones above are done in ink. I love the pearlescent inks, they're so beautiful when they catch the light. The paintings above and below are painted in acrylic. I've been obsessed with watercolour for a few weeks but I felt I'd like to get some acrylics out again.
