Difficult Beginnings

We've all felt like this but we can choose what we do about it.
Sometimes being stuck feels worse than actually taking the plunge doesn't it?

I'm working on some spot illustrations for a magazine, subject matter I'm not familiar with drawing, but the hard bit was starting, now that I have, I'll keep on going and show you when I'm done!

What's a spot illustration? I'll be interested to see what you are doing.

It's a one-off picture rather than a series for a story.

Hi April - that was clever, changing your URL. I've made sure I'm still on your followers list! Yes I will show them here, I've nearly finished the first one, so it shouldn't be long before I post it.

Ooh, I can't wait to see them, Jessie - sounds really exciting! How did you get the job? Through an agent or by yourself? It's always interesting to know how people actually get work (speaking as someone who has get to get 'some work' ha ha!)
Yes, the unfamiliar is always a bit scary, isn't it?

Jess, I love this video...wow, it says so much and resonates with how we all feel sometime! Thank you for finding it and sharing it here.

I am glad you took the plunge and jumped right in with your illustration...I am sure it is going to be fantastic! I can't wait to see it when you have it completed.

Good for you fighting the fear...a nasty little thing the ego does to us, isn't it?

*Loved* the video - I'm going to have to use that myself at some point.

Congrats and good luck with the illustrations. Starting is always the worst part for me. Love it after I get on a roll.
