A sunny day in January

I see blackbirds in the garden most days, and today, I thought for a change I would do a sketch in purely watercolour for my doodle-a-day. I love the way watercolour puddles and leaves tide marks. The sketch above is closest to how I painted it, but the image below shows what I was really after, the darkness. I took the original and made it darker on the computer.

I like the yellow orange and blue black of the bird, great combination!

Hi Jessie,
Lovely blackbird painting. Wow, you'e lucky it was warm down there - 'up here' (South West Scotland) it was freezing! Spring is on its way, though!

Very nice dark version. I can never get water colour dark enough! Nice weather there too. It's madness here after a hurricane storm. Trees down everywhere.

Thanks Christine, I do love to use that inky blue colour, I just need to learn how to make it darker!
Hi Liz, thanks, yes we were very lucky :)
Hi Rosie, thanks, it's so hard to get it dark without losing the freshness.
