How did 2 weeks fly by since my last blogpost?! Things are still pretty busy around here and lots has been happening so let me tell you what I've been doing. Over the half term we had a few days away in Cornwall. We drove over to the Lizard Peninsula to Kynance Cove (pics above) and then along the coast to another beautiful cove that I haven't been to before called Poldhu Cove. I loved the caves there, I imagined I'd see a mermaid living inside one of them but alas I didn't this time. The same day that we arrived back home, we had a family celebration for Youngest Son as he's just passed his driving test and had his birthday too! I'm always inspired to paint when I've been to Cornwall and once the house was quiet again, I finished this painting.  It's called ' Looking Back '.  I love the combination of bright turquoise together with the the earthy tones of browns and I've had in mind to do a paintin...

Hello bloggers! I'm sorry I haven't been out visiting your blogs for a while. I have a very good excuse you know :) because I've been away for a while in beautiful Cornwall discovering new parts that I haven't been to before! This top picture I took at the lovely  Prussia Cove. Here's where we stayed, Porthleven. It can get very windy here and the storms hit it very hard last winter. The weather was calm and warm most of the time while we were there, so I was able to walk along the coast path to take this picture of the town. My memory of the Lizard Peninsula is of dragging horizontal children through the wind to look at the view! It was actually Lizard Point that I'd been to before and this experience had delayed going anywhere near there again, so when I saw Mullion Cove for the first time last week I was amazed at how stunning it was! I'm back from my hols and the shop is now open again. My prints are currently on sale at The Grant Bradley Gallery in Bristol but they'll return to the shop after the exhibition ends at the beginning of September. :) As you can see I've been in lovely Cornwall for a week and I was very sad when it was time to leave!  The picture above is a place on Bodmin Moor called Dozmary Pool . We stopped there for a picnic lunch but couldn't persuade the teenagers to get out of the car to enjoy the view. Even tales of ghosts and legends didn't change their minds! It's said that Excalibur was thrown into the water after King Arthur was killed and the pool is now haunted by the Lady of the Lake who guards the sword. There's also a tale of the pool being bottomless with a tunnel that connects it all the way to the sea. I wonder if anyone has tried to find it? This gorgeous meadow caught my eye. I love to see wild flowers growing together don't you? ...

Hello, I'm back from my holiday. :) Thankyou to new people here for becoming a follower! I've just spent a week in my favourite holiday place in the world, St Ives in Cornwall . I saw star-like plants spreadeagled in all their pointy glory and frilly magenta greater knapweed soaking up the sun. Bright clusters of glorious yellow ragwort were dotted along the coast path. Is it me or do you think there are more wild flowers in bloom this year than ever before? It could be all that rain we had the last few weeks!  These poor crabs were washed up on the beach, ready-meals for the seagulls. A welcome alternative I like to think from their usual diet of pasties, chips and ice-creams. But with the rain, comes the glorious rainbow and what better place to see one than over the bay of St Ives. I don't mind what the weather's like when I'm here, I can't imagine a nicer place to be. :) Most of the week was very hot...

We've just got back from my favourite place in the world, St Ives , so I've got lots to show you! Above is a sketch I did from the window of the house where we were staying. Parking isn't easy there, so we had a long climb up the hill to the car park but what a lovely view we were rewarded with from the top. The light there is stunning at all times of the day and if you've ever visited, you'll understand why so many artists have gravitated towards there for many years. Happily for me, there are lots of galleries to explore and inspire. Not only was I influenced by these but also the gorgeous colours in the shops and the amazing landscape of course! I took my watercolours with me and here are a few pages from my sketchbook. Not painted from life I might add! Thanyou for your visit here, welcome to new followers!
