Cornwall Holiday Snaps

Image
I'm back from my hols and the shop is now open again. My prints are currently on sale at The Grant Bradley Gallery in Bristol but they'll return to the shop after the exhibition ends at the beginning of September. :) As you can see I've been in lovely Cornwall for a week and I was very sad when it was time to leave!  The picture above is a place on Bodmin Moor called Dozmary Pool . We stopped there for a picnic lunch but couldn't persuade the teenagers to get out of the car to enjoy the view. Even tales of ghosts and legends didn't change their minds! It's said that Excalibur was thrown into the water after King Arthur was killed and the pool is now haunted by the Lady of the Lake who guards the sword. There's also a tale of the pool being bottomless with a tunnel that connects it all the way to the sea. I wonder if anyone has tried to find it? This gorgeous meadow caught my eye. I love to see wild flowers growing together don't you?

Summer Bunting

Image
Did you guess from my last post what I was making? It wasn't Smurf hats at all, it was... BUNTING! I knew it was only a matter of time before I was to make my own bunting. It can be so expensive to buy in the shops can't it but I used scraps of fabric I already had from left over sewing projects and the pink cord was in my collection of bits and bobs. I tend to keep any ribbons or cord for occasions such as this. :) I'm off on my summer holiday tomorrow so I've closed my shop for now and will reopen on the 18th. See you when I get back! x x

A Day in Oxford

Image
I've always like visiting Oxford. So many inspiring sights to see! Come along with me as I show you what caught my eye. :) I do like a nice doorway and this one has exceptional decoration don't you think? Such beautifully kept gardens in the colleges. I like that lamp! Now step inside the Ashmoleon with me as I show you some treats... This is a close-up of the right hand side of the painting, 'The Triumph of Chastity'. If you like, you can see the whole painting here and below is a close-up of the left hand side of the painting. I love the way the mane of the unicorns are painted, so wavy :) I do like the shape of this ship! Below are the details of this painting. This one is St Michael Subduing Satan and Weighing the Souls of the Dead and is attributed to the artist Lelio Orsi 1508/11 - 1587. Bit of a gruesome image but fascinating detail. Lovely frame too! I love the unusual frame of this one

Hot to Trot!

Image
The weather's been so hot I haven't felt able to paint lately. I have however played with a watercolour painting on Photoshop that I made recently. Sitting in the coolest room in the house with my laptop seems easier somehow! I'd quite like to be one of those girls by the beach with an enormous ice-cream cone wouldn't you? :) These are the beach huts on a beach in Devon called Broadsands. I love how each one is a different colour and when I see one of the doors open, I try to sneak a look inside to see how people decorate the interior. Sometimes they're like little houses in their own right! The word for Illustration Friday this week is 'Jungle' so you'll have to forgive me for posting this one I'd already made as a commission. It's as hot as a Jungle today, easily!
