End of Term Pottery Loot

Image
My house is the most quiet it's been for a few days, my chance to show you the rest of the pottery I made this term. I won't be going to any more classes, me and pottery just didn't see eye to eye. I made a couple of fun things though, so it was worth the time and effort! Next term I've signed up for a very short course learning to do another new skill. Something I've been wanting to learn for a very long time. Stained glass = choosing colours (That's what I'm hoping for anyway!)

A Winter Solstice Creation

Tomorrow morning sees the very rare occurance of the winter solstice, a full moon with a total lunar eclipse . Happy Winter Solstice! :) xx

Lighting Up the Sky

Image
I noticed the beautiful pink and grey sky first thing this morning and I decided to take a photo of it but the trouble is I'm not usually at my best in the mornings, so for some reason I forgot to do it! Now as I look out the window it's quite grey. I love to paint pictures of the night sky and here are a couple I did yesterday and today. I've just noticed that I didn't put the moon in, that's very unusual for me!

Seated Man with Plant

Image
Two very contrasting pictures! One serene and beautiful, the other..I don't think he'd feel very serene if he knew I'd put holly on his 'area'! The top Buddha painting I made for a friend's birthday who is an accupuncturist. It's based on the healing, or medicine buddha, Bhaisajyaguru . The second picture is one of the life drawings I did this morning. I thought I'd better add the holly before I posted it here, it was bit full frontal for a decent and respectable blog such as this. It's the last life drawing session before christmas so holly seemed very appropriate!

A Cosy Day In

Image
It's one of those days today when I feel like hibernating. Snuggling up with chocolate, hot chocolate anyone? I shall indulge myself for a while, hiding away with my paints before the world beckons. But before I do that, let me show you what greeted me in my front garden this morning. Yes, snow and also... For the benefit of people outside the UK, click here if you really want to know what this means! It involves a 13 year old daughter who went to her first concert without any parents last week!

Christmas Money-Off Voucher!

Image
It was a lovely sunny sunday today and I felt the need for some trees. We saw plenty of beautiful trees and then I noticed a dolphin icicle, or is it a shark? Can you see it? Look more closely. We saw ducks and the view was quite nice too. I'm offering you a 20% discount on all my items for sale in My Etsy Shop . Just type Jessielilac at the checkout and you will automatically get a 20% discount on any of my items. This offer will apply to all orders that are placed before christmas day.

Night Time Fear

Image
Its still not snowing but it's quite dark here today. I played with some colour to lighten my day. I had a dream last night. I didn't want this one to come true. But it did.

Friday's Life Drawing

Image
Let me first show you the view from my window yesterday afternoon. My glass angel looked so lovely against the pink sky I just had to take a picture! Today we have a sunny friday morning. Yes sunny not snowy, sorry rest of the UK but here we have no snow. No doubt I'll soon be eating my words! I saw the satellite pictures of Scotland on the news this morning and it looks as though they're buried! A different model today, different challenges and different shapes. I shall be tacking new shapes next term. New shapes of a different sort. Glass ones!

The Human Condition

Image
Yesterday's picture that came from nowhere, it kind of evolved as I was making it. The flowers arrived at the end when my feelings had changed. Flowers represent happiness. Oh the human condition! I'm off to get me some nice music to listen to. :)

My Pottery Class

Image
I've always wanted to try my hand at pottery. At school we had to choose between pottery or 'art' and I chose art. I remember going into the pottery class once to borrow the guillotine and looked enviously upon the impressive pots they were making! Many many years later, here I am going to a pottery class with hopes and aspirations in mind, imagining I'd love every second. In fact I haven't been enjoying it at all! I clock-watch the whole 2 hours I'm there and each week leave frustrated and relieved it's over. But this week a few of my pieces came out of the kiln and I was pleasantly surprised. Above is my very first effort, a mug. It's a lot smaller than it looks in the photo, quite cute really. The right size for an expresso? I think my favourite is my fish. I didn't intend it to look like a punk but happy accidents are good 'accidents'! Next week is the last session. I've a few more things I'm in the middle of making and I'll
