Sunny Days

Image
We're used to unpredictable weather here in England but I'm getting used to all this March sun I can tell you! I think my garden is too. I've been busy painting an old flowerpot, giving it a new lease of life. My knitting project's coming along nicely too, nearly finished. For those of you who don't know, I'm having a giveaway (see my previous post below). I'm going to be in Paris for a few days soon so I'll post the winner when I get back and no doubt lots of photos of my trip too. :) Have a lovely weekend, see you when I get back.  Lets hope the weather stays like this for a few days more! :)

Busy at Home and Give-Away Time!

Image
It been a while since I knitted something and I've been missing it so I've just bought some beautiful soft Eskimo wool to make this , my very first project on Ravelry. I'll let you know how I get on. It's on big chunky 9mm needles so it shouldn't take very long to finish. Look at my poor  garden. It really has been neglected hasn't it? After several years of tough play from my children (and plenty of other people's too!) it looks forlorn and very sad doesn't it? Time for a make-over! A bit of wire wool action, my trusty can of lilac spray paint and a few other bits and bobs, it's now spick and span and ready for the next onslaught!                              ~*~*~Now for my give-away!  ~*~*~ As I've just tipped the 400 mark with my followers I thought it was time to say a big thankyou to you for adding my little blog to your reading list! I love your visits and to read your comments and appreciate t

Illustration Friday: Shades

Image
Spring sunshine on Mother's Day! I hope you all had a lovely day. This week's word for Illustration Friday is 'shades'. What better than the shade of a beautiful old tree, with sunlight peeping around the corner! The word 'shades' can be interpreted in lots of different ways but the very first one that sprang into  my  mind was of course shades of colour!    So here we have my picture in shades of green! This time of year the green is emerging little by little. I love early spring don't you? It means we have the whole of the spring and summer ahead of us. What a lovely thought. :)

Teapots, Prints and Drawing from Life

Image
I see I'm not alone in thinking there's something special about teapots! I'm getting used to making tea with leaves in a teapot even if it is just for one, the ritual of making it is growing on me! As I said in my last post, my Illustration Friday painting with the 'magical teapot' is now available as a print in my shop. :) Here are two more of my newly  listed prints... Another painting originally painted for Illustration Friday. I've renamed it 'Swirly Shower' and you can see the details here . and this one...... Yes! Another Illustration Friday picture with a new name of 'Shawl of Leaves' that you can see more details about here. Each are printed on good quality A4 Bristol paper and look as bright and clear as the original paintings. :) I've also been very privileged to be included in some lovely Etsy treasuries. :) Thankyou so much to  Irina ! Her jewellery shop can be found here . These are the Tre

Illustration Friday: Yield

Image
Thankyou for your comments, it really is lovely to see flowers again isn't it? I didn't realise how much I missed their colour until they started sprouting forth again! With colourful blooms still on my mind, here's my picture for this week's Illustration Friday. 'Yield'. **UPDATE** This painting is now available as a print!  CLICK HERE  to see the details. :) Why did I draw a teapot? I'll explain why that was on my mind. The other day I bought a packet of loose tea by accident, thinking it was teabags. I have a few teapots on the shelf in my kitchen (There's something about them I love, maybe it's their shape, so round?) but they very rarely get to be used. I don't like to waste things so I've been making proper tea in a proper teapot just like I used to in the olden days. Being the only tea drinker in the house it does feel like a great big faff and life is too short and.... I think I'll go back to tea bags next time!

It Must Be Spring

Image
It must be spring because my garden is beginning to come to life again. Time to do some tidying up, to make space for all  the new flowers to grow!  Thankyou for your lovely comments about my fish-loving daughter! It's amazing how her interest was there all along, who'd have known?  Blogger have allowed me to have my bloglist back hooray! You can now see it at last in the right hand sidebar. What with the Facebook changes and Blogger changes I've had a lot to learn lately! I hope you haven't had difficulties too. :)

Illustration Friday: Intention

Image
I had the idea for this illustration after I came across an old photo of my children playing on the beach. My daughter (in the white top) was making a fish design out of shells. She's always loved fish and has carried on this interest to this day, now working in an aquarium in Cornwall!
